An invoice can look readable while a misplaced digit or row makes it unusable. Indian invoices add mixed scripts, GST identifiers and varied date or currency formats to the review task.
Validate fields, not just full-page text
Check invoice number, supplier name, GSTIN, invoice date and line-item amounts separately. A correct word in the wrong column is still an extraction error.
- Recalculate quantity times unit price
- Reconcile subtotal, tax and grand total
- Compare identifiers directly with the original scan
Handle regional scripts carefully
Vendor names and addresses may appear in an Indian script while product codes and tax fields appear in English. Retain each original script and flag ambiguous characters for review.
The same batch may contain several languages. Check representative outputs from every source before automating downstream entry.
Track useful accuracy measures
Measure exact match for identifiers and amounts, and count rows assigned to the correct columns. Keep separate results for printed forms, handwriting and low-quality photos.
Route uncertain high-impact fields to a person before payment or filing. Never treat a model-generated confidence claim as a measured benchmark unless it was tested on your documents.
A short field-level review catches costly mistakes that a clean-looking text export can miss.
